The good sized gravel car park at Watergate can hold 8 or so cars (if you park neatly, which you do of course don't you)
Leaving Watergate towards East Yarde you lose the sealed surface and return to dressed ballast for the climb. If it's been raining you're going to get muddy. Note the National Cycle network signs.
The wooded climb out of Watergate isn't terribly steep but seems to go on for ever. Good fun coming back the other way though.
The car park at East Yarde, with the picnic area tucked in the far corner. There is also a small cafe here, out of shot to the right.
The track falls away towards Petrockstow, not nearly as steep as East Yarde down to Torrington, but a relief none the less.
