View from Meeth
After Watergate the artworks along the trail turn from wood to ceramic.
The unsealed surface may be muddier in the wet but seems to suit the woodland setting more in my opinion.
There's plenty of wildlife to be seen along the trail including Rabbits, Squirrels, Kingfishers on the Torridge, and even Otters if you're very lucky. Simon King, however, I am not so all I've managed to capture so far is this Pheasant.
I've cropped this to make me look like a better photographer.
This big tree graces the road junction that you have to cross at Petrockstow
They're not subtle, but I like them.
Petrockstow, it appears, is where the Tarka Trail parts company with the National Cycle Network
The trail dives down off the end of the platform at Petrockstow towards Meeth
Because it is no longer following the old track bed the trail can now weave in and out of the trees as it heads for Meeth. It makes for a great ride, and is one of the best bits of the trail.
The last stretch before you get to Meeth follows the hedgerow and the contours of the land. Let's off-road!
Sit on the platform, have a drink, enjoy the view, you've earned it because you've reached the end. Then realise you've got to ride back again now!
