Skirting behind Instow on the track leads you through this short tunnel.

As well as the restored signal box you'll also find two preserved signal posts at Instow

Unless you've got excellent balance, or really good suspension, I'd stick to the trail

That's rubbish, here's what you'll see if you look back at Instow just out of the station cutting

You can see the church tower in the background and, using this exit you can ride up to the pub in Westleigh. You'll need to cross a busy road, with fast moving traffic first though, so be very careful

We're now riding beside the River Torridge and across the river from Westleigh you'll see Appledore Shipbuilders

Tyred yet? (Oh, I've got a million of them, some of them might even be funny one day!)

The bigger, older, brother of the Barnstaple downstream bridge gracefully flies out over the river

Cyclists need not worry about the weakness of the bridge. Unless, perhaps, you're riding an old Raleigh Grifter, I had one of those and I swear they filled the tubes with concrete!
