The restored station at Bideford is home to a collection of carriages and engines in various states of restoration, one of which houses a visitors centre and refreshments.

The only way to cross the river to the town centre is the Longbridge (I've discounted the trunk road crossing of the Torridge Bridge) so it's a choice of playing with the traffic, or pushing it acros the pavement. Nowhere near as busy as Barnstaple bridge mind.

There's a raft of theories as to why the arches are different sizes, from differing parish contributions to cowboy builders. 'Raft of theories' - I crack myself up, I really do!

Two names, one ship - Bideford's maritime history is represented by the restored tall ship that is berthed near the bridge.

An extensive modernisation means that Bideford Quay remains a working port that can handle sizeable vessels

The Quay is the 'centre' of the town, used as a venue for markets, regattas and the famous New Year's Eve celebrations.
